Lombard

André Lombard, who had driven Salmsons successfully in competition, set up on his own Lombard car make to to produce a sporting voiturette of advanced design bearing his own name, and manufactured for him by E. Brault. The driver sat far forward in the Lombard car, beside the engine. The wheels were enclosed and the Lombard car was slung very low, the whole effect being far in advance of its time. Production Lombard cars, all with 4-cylinder, 1.083cc engines, and conventional seating but offered in several models, had twin ohc engines, with or without Cozette superchargers, and a 4-speed gearbox. The last new Lombard car offered was a twin-cam 3-litre straight-8. Dhome’s Lombard car won the 1929 Bol d’Or 24 hour race. In 1929 Lombard ceased to sell Lombard cars under his own name; BNC took over the stock of parts and assembled a few cars which they sold, and raced, under the name BNC.
