Classic Brewster for sale - Brewster cars for sale
US, 1915 – 1925, 1934 – 1936
(1) Brewster & Co, Long Island City; New York, NY., 1915 – 1925
(2) Springfield Mfg Co, Spingfield, Mass., 1934 – 1936Between 1915 and 1925, the venerable firm of Brewster & Co, carriage builders and makers of custom-built car bodies, produced an expensive and meticulously – built automobile in a variety of open and closed models. Powered by a 4-cylinder Knight sleeve-valve engine, these compact town-carriage types of Brewer cars were widely sought after by the wealthy who did not want the ostentation of a larger custom-built car. Production of the initial Brewsters ceased shortly before the Brewster company was absorbed by Rolls-Royce of America, Inc. The Brewster name re-appeared in 1934 in a series of open and closed Brewster bodies mounted on Ford, Buick and other standard chassis. Approximately 300 of the later Brewsters were built, the cars carrying the Brewster name and costing $3.500.
