1934 Alvis Speed 20 SB Special with Speed 25 engine, immaculate condition

Built by the late Alvis expert Chris Compton of Comptons of Welshpool

This was the last car ever built by Chris Compton of Compton's of Welshpool before he sadly passed away in October 2016.Now being sold by his family who no longer have room to store it.Chris spent 40 years building, restoring and repairing Alvis's and during this time he built up a reputation for his craftsmanship and became a leading expert within the pre-war Alvis community.Chris built this speed 20 with the intention of keeping it for himself after his retirement but unfortunately he passed away shortly after it was completed.The car has only done 56 miles since it was built and is in immaculate condition throughout, starts on the button and drives like a dream.It's a speed 20 SB  with a speed 25 engine, with a lightweight aluminium body. The engine, gearbox, diff and all running gear and  radiator are all completely rebuilt. To say this car is fast would be an understatement,  Chris was hoping to compete in some track days and hill climbs hence why he installed a lap counter on the dashboard.There are some sympathetically installed modern upgrades to make the car more reliable and to alleviate  some of the original temperamental idiosyncrasies such as an external oil filter, electric fan, alternator, electric fuel pumps, electric isolation switch and a 12v electrical system. However we also have the major components required to remove these to put the car back to original if required.The car was first registered in  England in early 1934 as registration AXC 407 then exported to the Isle of Man in 1944 and given registration number FMN 944.
